Udalguri hosts journalism workshop

A three days workshop on reporting and photography has been successfully organised at Udalguri on August 21,22 and 23. The workshop was organised by Assam Times group in association with ABSU Udalguri district committee.The workshop was held at ABSU district office at Udalguri.The purpose of the workshop was to train young people of the district in the field of reporting and photography with new days technology so as to enable all young boys and girls to work in the field of journalism. A total of 56 boys and girls from various places of the district namely- Udalguri,Tangla, Kalaigaon,  Paneri,Harisinga,Mazbat, Dimakuchi, Orang etc participated in the workshop. New Delhi based technologist and associate of noted film maker Mike Pandey Anshul Ojah; Assam Times group directors Babul Gogoi and Syed Miraz Ahmed conducted the workshop on all three days.The motto was to highlight local issues worldwide online in the field of conservation of wildlife,witch hunting etc. According to Dipen Boro,Advisor and Nerkhang Khaklary,president Udalguri district ABSU the workshop had been organised at Udalguri to train young boys and girls the basics of new day journalism so as to prepare every citizen to explore local important issues to the world. ABSU advisor Dipen Boro said that four zones namely – Udalguri,Kalaigaon,Mazbat and Kalaigaon have been identified for the further training schedule. The concluding session was held on August 23 at 2 pm at ABSU officewhich was attended by senior journalists of the district namely- Jayanta Das,Gunajit Das,Dhiren Baishya and Ujjal Das. Bitumoni Brahma,a girl participant declared proudly that they had learned much and would dedicate their time for the cause of public welfare in the days to come.

In a very tragic and barbaric incident, Puspanjali Das (19)wife of Chandan Debnath of Thakuriapara village under Bhergaon sub-division in Udalguri district has been burnt down alive on Saturday noon for non-payment of marriage dowry. The incident has shocked the district. The lady was put in a sac before thrown in a fire lighted in a heap of hay. Puspanjali was married to Chandan just three months bac. Narayan Debnath, father-in-law of Puspanjali has been arrested while trying to flee but all the family members managed to flee before being caught.
