World Zoonosis Day at Barpeta

World Zoonosis Day was celebrated and awarness meeting on zoonosis was organised by Assam Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Association, Barpeta branch on Sunday in collaboration with Journalist Union, Barpeta District Committee and Club Rhino (NGO) Barpeta. 58 pet dogs of different species were provided free health check up and medicines were also provided by Dr. Pabitra Narayan Ojah, vice president of Assam Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Association and other district veterinary officers. Meanwhile 30 pet dogs were also vaccinated for Rabies.

In the morning of April 22nd a truck loaded with cement fell off the bridge along the Barpeta-Kayakuchi-Bhaktardowa-Sarthebari PWD road which links Kayakuchi with Bhaktardowa. An appalling situation came to light following patient Gajendra Das's emergency admission into the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the much spoken about Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College (FAAMC) in Barpeta town Friday evening.
