A section of AICC leaders is understood to have devised a mechanism to end dissidence in CLP by changing chief minister. They are averse to allow Tarun Gogoi to continue as chief minister.
But top AICC sources told this correspondent that there is hardly any chance for change in chief minister. The meeting slated for June 23 in New Delhi is expected to discuss the overall party affairs two years ahead of the assembly polls.
Sonia Gandhi is believed to have confirmed Gogoi as chief minister till the 2016 assembly polls. If that’s all, Gogoi will be able to continue as chief minister who is prepared to reshuffle his cabinet after June 23.
To be chaired by vice president Rahul Gandhi, the meeting is expected to discuss the strategies for the 2016 assembly polls in presence of chief minister Tarun Gogoi and APCC president Bhubneswar Kalita along with AICC leaders Ahmed Patel, Dr CP Joshi, Ghulam Nabi Azad and Motilal Vhora and the newly elected MPs.
Notably, AICC leaders on Thursday gave hint of change in Assam chief minister after the crucial meeting slated for June 23.
