Bwiswmuthiary to contest Independently

After having observed the upheavals caused among the people, the electorate and the supporters of the BPF following the denial of party nomination to Sansuma Khunggur Bwiswmuthiary, the four time sitting MP has decided to contest the forthcoming parliamentary elections from No.5 Kokrajhar ST (HPC) as Independent candidate. In a press release today, Bwiswmuthiary also seriously shares with the sorrows and disappointment of the electorate, majority supporters within outside and outside of the party, as well as all other supporters outside BTAD over the arbitrary, dictatorial and undemocratic decision taken by Hagrama Mohilary in giving party ticket to Chandan Brahma, sitting Transport minister in Assam Government on March 24 last. This is despite the fact that Bwiswmuthiary's candidature had received support from majority district committees, block committees of the BPF and the majority supporters and voters from all sections of the society.

He said that it was a matter of great surprise and shock when Chandan Brahma was declared as the party candidate on March 24 since he had not formally applied for nomination from the party ticket whose last date was March 15. Bwiswmuthiary laments the fact that the spirit and practice of democracy, the ideals of peoples's participation and inclusiveness both within the party and in the BTC have been completely murdered by Mohilary in order to fulfil his vested selfish interests at the cost of the overall interests of the general public as well as the party. He has deliberately committee the blunder with an ulterior motive of getting his sister Pramila Rani Brahma, MLA and former Assam minister re-inducted as cabinet minister in place of sitting minister Chandan Brahma.

Bwiswmuthiary has expressed his anguish over the dictatorial style of functioning that Mohilary has adopted as both the Chief of the BTC and the president of the BPF party. He has been repeatedly trying to suppress the increasing dissenting voices of the people through his undemocratic dictates, intimidation, open verbal threats and misleading and concocted arguments.

However, Bwiswmuthiary is confident that Mohilary's political game plan and conspiracy will backfire on him and his ulterior motives will be defeated by the public by casting their valuable votes for Bwiswmuthiary on April 24 next, he said adding that the public cutting across all section of society have already lost confidence in Mohilary's leadership both in running BTC administration and in leading the party. The people are of the opinion that under his leadership, neither the Bodos nor the others sections of society feel safe and secure in all spheres.

Bwiswmuthiary has vowed to render his humble and honest service to the public as he has been doing for many decades in every sphere, particularly in the matter of bringing about an amicable and lasting political solution of to the long pending Bodoland statehood imbroglio, in the matter of overall development, and in ensuing safety, security, unity, peace and harmony among all sections of the society so that every community can co-exist within Bodoland with equal rights and status, identity and dignity as well.
