Sudden inspection in Rangia-Rangapara North section

Chahatey Ram General Manager, North East Frontier Railways, conducted annual inspection of Rangia-Rangapara North section along with his team comprising of senior officers on Saturday. Inspection of stations, colonies, bridges, level crossing gates and ongoing works by local registered contractors were done. Ram carried out inspection in Rangapara North, Mazbat, Rowta Bagan, Udalguri and Tangla railway stations.

During his brief stopover at Tangla railway station local people, members of student bodies feted him. ABSU and AABYSF activists jointly submiitted a 16-point demand memorandum citing various necessities and demands including stoppage of superfast and Naharlagun-New Delhi AC express trains at Tangla railway station. They also submitted memorandum citing various necessities including potable drinking water facilities, ATM facility, waiting room among others.

Rajya Sabha MP Santius Kujur also apprised GM Ram on the people's demand for stoppage of Naharlagun-Delhi AC express at Tangla railway station.

Kamalpur police today apprehended two ULFA militants namely Hemanta Kalita and Bakul Boro. Police has recovered some ULFA related documents from their possession. In another incident, Baihata Chariali police today apprehended one NDFB cadre namely Babul Rabha. He is cadre of 3rd Battalion of NDFB. He is from Udalguri.

Beefed up security in Kokrajhar

Security tightens in Kokrajhar district in the run up to the Durga puja celebrations which begins from Monday.

Talking to reporters in Kokrajhar on Friday, SP Shyamal Prasad Saikia, said that police started gearing up checking of vehicles to thwart any attempt to disrupt the festival. 

He has policemen are on alert to deal with the anti-social activities like kidnapping, extortion, demands from the trader, employees and citizens from anti-social doers.

He said that CCTVs would be installed in puja pandals to closely monitor the movement of people.
